AID TO OUR FELLOW MAN

About Us

It all started over a few beers at the Tally-Ho Hotel in 1967. There, a group of young Nanaimo men in thier early 30’s, who had interest in community affairs and freindship. Talk turned to how established service clubs had approached some of the group to join. The young group of men found these service groups with similer ideals had a respective membership age a bit distant from themselves and felt the the age difference a bit much for proper communications. They felt like outsiders, yet they still wanted to do something for those less fortunate.

Consequently, these young gentlemen decided to form their own service club independent of any other international organization. It all started with a car wash fundraiser at the Tally Ho Hotel with $147.00 in proceeds that went to Cerebral Palsy.

Known first as the Service Auxiliary Men, the name was subsequently shortened to Serauxmen. Through our club members excellent enthusiasm and work efforts, the Serauxmen has become a highly respected and valued service organization in Nanaimo and immediate area.

Our members include business owners, managers, leaders, employees; men wanting to help out. We fundraise, then distribute money or other aid to those in need and charitable organizations.

Serauxmen Sports Field is located off Wakesiah Avenue and  represents our most recognized local project.

We represent over 50 years of service in the Nanaimo Community and ever since it’s humble beginnings, Serauxmen members have raised over 2 million dollars; helping scores of children, individuals, families & groups around Nanaimo.

Serauxmen members are not paid in any way. Our volunteers generously donate thier; talents, expertise, resources, fuel, vehicles, facilities, etc. Impossible to list all or quantify the efforts of our few.

At day end , our fantastic volunteers are very proud to regularly, positively impact the lives of thousands. We are simply a group of Nanaimo men who are very grateful for what we have in our lives and have decided to actively give back and be of tangible service to our community.

Of course we are always on the lookout for more corporate sponsors, new members and ways to help those in need. Our particular focus on aiding local resident cases of unexpected hardship. Hardship situations that would otherwise fall through the cracks of routine government support.

We are wholeheartedly part of Nanaimo’s community, our focus is to help groups and individuals within the local region. “All the money raised here, stays here.”

The Serauxmen powered  (100 Men -Nanaimo-)  started in 2018, was also an outstanding success, eclipsing fundraising estimates in its inagural first year.
